Modacryl is one of the first high visibility materials
to be made available with flameproof properties. It is also permanently
antistatic. If high-viz is needed, plus the feature of extra safety
when working with dangers of arc’s or fire; then this range
is perfect.
It is important to note Modacryl does not provide the same level
of protection against fire or electric arc’s as NOMEX or Proban.
This range is perfect as a uniform for those working in the field
all day, to provide that extra safety.
The garments are tested to 4kA for 500ms, which
in many cases will be more than adequate. That is approximately
equal to a 10Cal/cm2 rating in the American standard.
This is a guide only; protection does become higher when more than
one garment is worn.
When a task must be performed with a higher fault current risk than
this normal a switching coat or similar item can simply be worn
on top to boost safety for this short task.
