This is done through higher worker satisfaction and in turn productivity, and also in the reduction of injury related absent days and injury related cost. It is important to have EFFECTIVE protective clothing, not just 'alibi' clothing. Extreme Safety are the importer of ROFA clothing from Germany, which is widely used throughout Europe for its reputation for quality. There are three types of material used in ROFA arcproof clothing; NOMEX, Proban and Modacryl. All these garments are fireproof and provide excellent protection but have their subtle differences. Proban and NOMEX Clothing are suitable for day to day work, but also high risk tasks such as switching or working with high fault currents.'Some are tested at up to 10kA for 1sec, which is the highest level of protection available. Modacryl and some other NOMEX garments are suitable for lower risk tasks, and are tested to only 4kA for 500ms.

All garments are permanently antistatic

Living Proof...

A man in Germany, working for RWE (electricity provider) was on call on a Saturday. Early that day, two cars collided at an intersection, one then running into a distribution box, which was thus damaged. The worker was called out to the site to asses and repairs the damage.

When he arrived, he put on his ROFA safety equipment (provided in every work vehicle and to every worker by RWE), including gloves, switching coat, face shield and helmet. As he opened the distribution box door, there was a short, and a flash. He was engulfed in flames of over 9000°C, and thrown backwards with massive force.

On the following Monday morning he returned to work with no injuries. When he arrived, the first thing he did was call ROFA, to thank them for saving his life...
